CanScreen5 Train the Trainers for francophone African countries – participants meet in Rabat, Morocco

25 September 2024

The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Cancer Screening in Five Continents (CanScreen5) Train the Trainers learning programme for cancer screening programme managers from francophone African countries started online, in April 2024, and is now continuing with an in-person workshop, being held on 23–26 September 2024 in Rabat, Morocco.

With support from the World Health Organization (WHO) Regional Office for Africa, the four-day programme is being hosted in Rabat at the invitation of the Ministry of Health of Morocco and the Fondation Lalla Salma – Prévention et traitement des cancers.

The event, which brings together 22 cancer screening managers and health professionals from 17 francophone African countries, is the first of three face-to-face workshops being held in 2024. The second workshop will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for the Gulf Region on 30 September–3 October, and the third workshop will be held in Bali, Indonesia, for Asian countries on 7–10 October.

The three cohorts of trained experts will strengthen the dynamic global network of leaders in cancer screening in each region.
